Scoring Categories
Terraforming Mars is scored at the end of the generation in which all three global parameters are maxed out. Most of your points come from your Terraform Rating, but cities, greeneries, milestones and awards regularly swing the result.
Terraform Rating
Number input · 0–100
Your final Terraform Rating, 1 point per step. It started at 20 and rose every time you raised a global parameter.
Milestones
Number input · 0–15
5 points for each milestone you claimed. Only three milestones can be claimed per game.
Awards
Number input · 0–15
For each funded award, first place scores 5 points and second place 2. In a two-player game only first place scores.
Greenery
Number input · min 0
1 point for every greenery tile you own.
Cities
Number input · min 0
Each of your cities scores 1 point per adjacent greenery tile — including greeneries owned by other players.
Cards
Number input
Points printed on your played cards, including cards that score per resource on them (such as animals or microbes) or per tag.
Common scoring mistakes
- Counting only your own greeneries next to a city — every adjacent greenery counts.
- Giving second place on an award in a two-player game.
- Forgetting to count resources sitting on cards that score per resource.
